CrossFire (Beilstein/Gemelin)
Client Download & Setup Instructions -Macintosh
- Download Macintosh client from http://minerva.library.Wisc.edu
- Double click on CrossFire V6_Installer. hqx
- Software will download and decompress on your desktop
- Install the software by double clicking on the "CrossFire V6
Installer" icon on your desktop
Note: if previous versions of Commander 2000 were installed and you
are attempting to install it in the same location, you will be warned
that the contents of the old folder will be erased.
- Follow the installation instructions
- Launch Commander (double click on Beilstein Commander alias)
and then initiate a session by clicking on the red
cross arrows icon.
- You will get a "CrossFire Server Profiles,
create a new profile "dialog box. Select "New.."
- At the end of the Beilstein Commander setup
you will be presented with a "CrossFire Server Profile" dialog
box for communication parameters.
Click on the Server Tab
Host: Beilstein.library.wisc.edu
OS: AIX
Program: /xfire/bin
Root: /xfire
Click on the Communication
Tab
Port: XFIRE
Portnumber: 8001
- After making the changes above
click OK. You will be asked to name the profile. Stick with the default-*.prf
- You will get a "CrossFire Server Profiles,
creat a new profile" dialog box. Select the profile you just created.
- The last item to complete is putting in the
user id and password for your university. When prompted, enter the user
id and password - all in lower case.
- Client Name or User ID - xfndame
- Group Name - notredam
- Password: contact the Chemistry-Physics
Library staff for the password
- If you don't want to be prompted for the user
id and password each time you use Comander, you can select the box to
remember the user id and pasword. Since this requires a change to the
profile, you will be prompted for the profile password - don't enter
a password here just click OK.
- Installation is complete.
